Though part of Cumbria, Sedbergh is situated just inside the western boundary of the Yorkshire Dales, with Dentdale and Garsdale to the East and the Howgill Fells to the North.

The Dales Way passes through Dent and then within half a mile of Sedbergh.

The Pennine Cycle Way and the Yorkshire Dales Cycle Way both pass though Sedbergh town centre.

Sedbergh lies just five miles to the est of Junction 37 on the M6.

Coming to Sedbergh by Road

From the M6, Junction 37

Take the A684 east–bound (signposted Western Dales) for 5 miles.

From Edinburgh or the North–east of England

Take the A66 at Scotch Corner, the A685 at Brough and then the A683 just South of Kirkby Stephen.

From West Yorkshire

Go to Skipton, then take the A65 as far as Kirkby Lonsdale. From there, drive North for ten miles to Sedbergh on the A683.

Train Services

West Coast Main Line

For trains between London and Glasgow/Edinburgh, stopping at Oxenholme Station (10 miles from Sedbergh).

Settle–Carlisle Line

For trains between Leeds and Carlisle, stopping at Dent (9 miles from Sedbergh), Garsdale (9 miles) and Kirkby Stephen (12 miles).

During the summer there is a limited weekend bus service, operated by the Western Dales Bus, connecting Dent Station with Dent and Sedbergh. More regular daily services connect Oxenholme with Sedbergh throughout the year (but check timetables!). See www.westerndalesbus.co.uk
